when you search wolfram alpha for the word ‘fuck’ you get this word frequency histogram. as you can see, from ~1820 to ~1955, simply no fucks were given. this may be in large part due to the industrial revolution and rapid growth of civilization, as well as both world wars straining humanity. contrast this with much of the 1600s and 1700s where many fucks were given. judging by the rise of fucks given post-1955, we can conclude that the nature of giving fucks is cyclical.
